The forum, entitled “School Safety and Security for Parents,” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Edison Intermediate School auditorium, 800 Rahway Avenue in Westfield.

Jeff Gale, director of the NJDOE’s Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning (OSPEP), and Dr. Thomas Gambino, education program development specialist with the OSPEP, will discuss the elements of the New Jersey School Drill Law and why schools conduct safety drills, the importance of situational awareness and the “See Something, Say Something” campaign to report suspicious activity.  The presentation also will cover communicating during a crisis and why school security is everyone’s responsibility.
