Arkansas Safe School Association
The Arkansas Safe Schools Association is a statewide, non-profit organization consisting of School Resource Officers, School Safety Personnel, School Administrators and others dedicated protecting our children and helping our schools maintain a safe and orderly climate, thereby creating a positive learning environment. Our goal is to provide consistent, up-to-date, affordable, quality, training that is available to all law enforcement agencies and school districts across the state. This training, along with a communication network of school safety professionals will make Arkansas Schools a safer place to learn.
Arkansas Department of Education School Safety Commission
On March 1, 2018, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that he issued an executive order that creates the Arkansas School Safety Commission. The Governor has also committed $300,000 to the Criminal Justice Institute for additional training for school resource officers and security assessments for schools. The commissioners evaluated school designs, safety and security policies, emergency plans and policies, school counseling, and mental health issues. They also evaluated school-security data, including issues such as single-point entry, electronic access badges, and school resource officers.

The Arkansas Center for School Safety (ACSS) provides education, training, resources, and technical assistance to Arkansas educators and law enforcement professionals to assist them in providing our kids with a safe environment to reach their academic potential.

Arkansas School Safety Legislation
In 2018, the Police Foundation staff conducted a comprehensive public domain scan of state legislation from all 50 states and the District of Columbia related to the following aspects of school safety and security:
- facility security and assessment requirements;
- creation, and identification of roles and responsibilities for state school safety centers and school safety teams/committees;
- requirements for school administrators and faculty;
- allocation of funds for improving school safety and security; and
- all-hazards emergency planning and preparedness.
